BET (Black Entertainment Televison) created by Bob Johnson has long ago fallen from its intended path of racial education, entertainment, and upliftment...goals of some great civil rights' legends. It was to have been what John H. Johnson (no relation to Bob Johnson) did with Ebony and Jet Magazines. Except it's become no more than a provocative tour to what those great civil rights' leaders were trying to get us to rise above. Therefore, everything's black ain't necessarily beautiful nor worthy of awards, no matter how much commercial revenue they might bring to the fore.
If you are waiting for white folks to say, look at our "crazy-ass niggers" and what they do, you can forget about it. The day it stops making that green is the day that white folks won't be willing nor as accepting; and thus, with self-righteous moral justification, start rounding up niggers by the truck and train loads, and hauling them off to those "secret concentration camps" somewhere out west, supposedly designed during the Nixon administration...when calling for more "law and order."
When Fame Becomes the Prison
Careful about what you wish for...you just may get it. Saw where Glenn Beck, wife, and child were accosted while attending a family evening movie in the park in NY. The melee according to Beck, occurred when some one pointed this more or less infamous character out at the activity, and another onlooker supposedly tossed wine at them...at which time Beck saw himself as some sort of martyr, of which he started to cry out...why don't you just lynch me?
First of all, Beck's description was over the top, as described by an onlooker whose friend supposedly spilled the wine in a fracas with Beck's bodyguards. The tip off here is the idea that people who want the freedom of being non-assuming citizens on an outing having to have body guards, created by their lust for fame...at the expense of family and friends.
I recalled where Michael Jackson said what he would not give just to go and get a hamburger without being recognized.

...goes like this, reach out and pick a publicly known person, and you will find that you are separated by six or less people that you know, that knows the person. Now, I referred to former President Clinton as "Slick Willie...my man." Therefore, take that as a homeboy compliment. I know the former President by one degree of separation via his former Secretary of Labor, Alexis Herman, my former high school classmate.
Nevertheless, when it comes to the field of politics, there is no one living or dead that's better; although, Dr. MLK, Jr claimed former President Lyndon B. Johnson had this sort of people's skills. I don't excuse some of the personal "screw-ups" in his past, but when it comes to playing the political game of one upsmanship, there's none better.

I make this assessment based on my exchange with the President and his administration which has been of little input, yet enough to know that his reign is based on political cronyism...so typical of those that preceded him.
Somehow, I thought he would be original and different; that he would be historically seminal in his role as the leader of the free world. I thought he would incorporate the majority of Americans in the building of this grand ole nation. Turns out I was wrong and to the dismay of many who supported him. He's just another "Democratic Party Insider," cutting deals to benefit himself and his power-hungry cronies.

Who is Lyall Russell? Hell if I know...you can find out by going to http://lyallrussell.blogspot.com. Like so many millions of us bloggers out here, I did check out his site to discover that he claims to represent the "republican right."
Nevertheless, he's shown more spine than the right wing talk show hosts by selecting his first choice for the Presidential prize of 2012...none other than Herman "Munster" Cain, second was Michele Bachmann. Like I said before, it takes "intestinal fortitude" to step out so boldly and cast the hat of your favorite in the ring...whereas, I'm a Ron Paul supporter...win or lose.
This is something the right wing talk show blowhards will not do (after being publicly challenged), and that goes double for the "big voice on the right" aka "el rushbo", "blubber butt", or now the "granny pan-tea bagger"...besides, he has no need to wear boxers and can't wear briefs.

It seems this officially terminated relationship with Tom and Tavis, started back when Barack Obama began his 2008 Presidential bid. Apparently, Tavis felt dissed when Barack wouldn't sit in on one of Tavis's annual "Negro Get Togethers" televised nationwide, as to give some insight as to what the more enlightened (so-called educated) Negroes were thinking, as if the rest of America could give a good goddamn.
Anyway, Tavis at least in his mind felt he was the new "HNIC", the primary liaison between black and white America...and, he was pissed when Obama didn't bow to his throne. From then on, he had this "I'll show that nigger" attitude. He showed that disdain at every opportunity to undermine President Obama and his representation within black America.
I should point out that Tavis got his start on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, a nationally syndicated radio program, which I occasionally listen, and even have commented that he should likewise get rid of a few more "HNIC wannabes" such as Al B. Conked and the right Rev. Nutscutter. You can see my comments about these two shysters a few pages back.
Nonetheless, as long as this "HNIC Syndrome" hangs in the black community, you'll going to have these break-ups and possibly a letting bygones be bygones, finally maturing to the point of realizing that black America needs no HNIC, just productive and constructive individuals taking care of business.

This young man, unfortunately with instant fame and fortune, and no proper guidance, paid a price with imprisonment, loss of fortune and so-called friends, and compounded by shame and disgrace; found the spiritual strength to make the lone trek back from hell...a better man for it, and an example to young people of what not to do and what to do. Don't blow it.
Pumpkinhead's Double Standard
As discussed earlier, Tom Joyner's outrage over Tavis Smiley's dissing the President, was capped off with the white editor from "Time Magazine" referring to the President as a "d**k" on an MSNBC program and might also add, that Al B. Conked hosted MSNBC, just a couple of weeks ago. Tom also continues to carry Al B. Conked and Rev. Nutscutter on his morning radio program.
Another factor about this double standard, is that GE owns NBC, which also carries this website called the "grio"...supposed to be from an African tradition of communication, of which it promotes Al B. Conked as the new MLK,Jr...an HNIC suggestion by white folks. If that ain't so much bullsh*t I don't know what is.
GE's Chairman Imelt is the President's #1 go to corporate white guy, who leads a corporation that pays no taxes or paid no taxes last fiscal year, and Al B. Conked has all but inducted himself as the President's go-to Negro...just shows you the shallow depth of understanding the President has about the plight of black America. Be advised black America, only you can rescue yourselves from an impending future of hardships.
This brings me to my point, just last month Louis Farrakhan referred to the President as a "murderer" in the President's effort to take down Farrakhan's #1 go to in the middle east, "Brother Cool Breeze," aka Quodaffy Duck. I heard no or at least have not heard to date any outrage by Pumpkinhead in the remarks made by "Louie the Lip". I guess it all depends on whose ox is being gored.
Now, if you are confused and can't connect the dots, it just shows how uninformed you (who may be white) and black America are...TJMS, the grio, and MSNBC notwithstanding. So let's lighten up for the "4th" with a parody from "In Living Color"...just google "The Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan Comedy Hour".
