Caveat Emptor...Let the Buyer Beware
Before the government got more involved in health and safety in for example, food consumption...the slogan caveat emptor was the norm, or buy at your own risk. Child labor was a standard practice in order to better profit in this newfound industrialized, capitalist system. A system advocated by today's right wingers and especially coming from the T-Baggers, taking office.
From a logistics analyst's point of view, Mr. President, this is the opportune time to make a difference in America's strength by going lean and green. As stated before, have your team to figure out those T-Bag districts that government cuts can be made first...going to the bone. Next, hit the Republican controlled districts. Finally, hit your own party's districts just to send a message, that you are the President of the United States, and not some party-tool seeking a second term. Instead of spreading the wealth, go after it with a scalpel...bagging tax scofflaws with off shore accounts and tax shelters on grounds of being jailed or just outright expatriated...for good!! Otherwise, this ship will sink.
Tempest Catfight Brewing in Teapot??
Rumor has it that Michele Bachmann is weighing a Presidential bid. How's that going to impact Sarah Palin? The "Mountain Lioness" versus the "Mama Grizzly"? You can be assured claws will be sharpened and extended, unless one gives in and decides to carry water for the other. 2012 is shaping up to be "interester" and "interester". I can almost hear it now. "In this corner we have..."
Here we go again with Tavis Smiley
Tavis Smiley is scheduled to appear on C-span with another confab this month. Unlike the "black confab" held last year with the so-called educated discussing a social agenda for and among black folk, this agenda will contain some liberal white folk and again with a discussion of black folks' social agenda in America.
I can only shake my head and say, after all of these years, Negroes still just don't get it. Social acceptance will not provide economic independence. Begging for jobs instead of being edcuated to create them as urged by Booker T. Washington, put black folks in this economic free fall. The idea of social acceptance was encouraged by the likes of WEB Dubois and Monroe Trotter and after a half millenium in this country...Negroes are the "brokest", unhealthiest, and most mis-directed than any other ethnic group...and that's considering blacks from other nations.
Last night, I watched the film "A.K.A Cassius Clay" available from "Netflix" and it featured his rise to worldwide fame after he became a follower of Elijah Muhammad. After the world understood how serious this man was about his belief under the guidance of Elijah Muhammad, both to the dismay of whites and Negroes alike, he (Ali) eventually said some things about the blacks in America that both Negroes and white America had to accept.
After seeing this film, you can understand why men such as Muhammad Ali, Booker T. Washington, Martin L. King, Jr., and Elijah Muhammad were, one could say, divinely infused to rise from the"spiritually and economically dead" and deliver a message to an "enslaved" people. However, Elijah Muhammad said he would be the last messenger and black author James Baldwin hinted at the upcoming consequences...it would be "fire" the next time.
Silly Negro...Don't you know economics are for "whites only"??
Although a slight exaggeration, this was the reaction I got when I went in and made a business proposal to hire people in the Roanoke Valley in my business of healthcare consulting on a direct basis. The board director told me because of "certain gov't regulations" I could not do this. I decided to file a concern with the Department of Labor to find out why there are these restrictions in hiring people...File Reference 624-390.
I then offered my services in writing grant proposals for the VA Workforce Centers to see if I could better implement or address the needs of the rising number of unemployed...especially minorities. The director then countered that they would like for me to consider becoming an employee instead and to submit a resume with a cover. I responded that I had no desire to become an employee of some bureaucracy that seemed to be a part of the problem as opposed to the solution. I also told her that I was a nationally certified minority owned business established in Roanoke since February 2006, providing assistance to non-profits and a spotless track record as monitored by the BBB.
She said she would present my proposal to the Executive Committee, which responded with a rejection of my proposal according to her. I then asked for the the minutes of that meeting showing how my proposal was presented, and the specific reasons by whom for the rejection. She said she would provide them when they were available. I then told her that her bylaws stated that they were looking for ideas to improve the economic status, and thus, I said my business qualifies under this bylaw unless she could provide a legal and legitimate reason why it did not...other than apparently a white-controlled, majority entity simply denying access to a black-owned minority entity seeking access to the economic pie via government grants. No response.
I have since initiated the grants writing program for the agency as well as some other non-profits in the region...as filed with the Department of Labor, Reference File 624-390...insuring her of an equal economic opportunity access denial suit, if necessary.
Negroes...Please!!
Headline from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: "NAACP lawsuit stalls in court"
Article: "Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford [who's white] has been asked to put aside the results of the NAACP Atlanta Chapter's November election."
This incident with this branch of the NAACP in Atlanta qualifies as a real "NP" moment, just in time for Black History Month. Let's be truly honest and ask, when does or will America's white establishment give a "two-cents damn" about Negro "monkey shines"? This judge's expression gave the impression that he'd wish they would take this bullsh*t somewhere else.
