To Bus or Not To Bus....
Well, this overdone issue of education among blacks is still on the burner. The Wake School Board in North Carolina is weighing "school reassignment" to reduce the expense of busing kids out of their neighborhoods, just to satisfy desegregation requirements from the fifties, but also in hopes of better educating the kids closer to their homes.
Naturally, there are some concerns as to how this will ultimately work out. Is this a viable and productive solution, or will it be a return to old dilapidated school buildings which will soon be ill-equipped with obsolete school materials, etc., etc.?
I have already spoken about some crazy ass ideas that have surfaced in the past when it comes to educating black children...from "ebonics" to segregating the black kids in integrated schools, a few minutes out of each day to jump start their brains, as in Lancaster, PA...crazy ass ideas from some so-called educated Negroes.
I have even referred to the potential of broadband in educating kids...being that they all have some sort of pda's, as well as access to their own personal autos by the time they are sixteen...so why do they even need buses, when they could very well car pool? Just get rid of the buses altogether.
Frankly, they could do without some school buildings, kids could be assigned their work in their homes for those who have broadband or access to a closed televised program, home schooling if you will...putting the onus on the parents and guardians to see that they are getting their work done. They then could attend a convenient location such as one of these barren church buildings during the weekends, if not a local school building to be tested...giving an overall evaluation of that child's educational progress and health welfare. If they aren't keeping up...find out why. If necessary, special sessions would be required, mandating attendance at school during the week, with hands on supervision.
Bazaar...you may think? Nevertheless, a suggestion that I believe has more merit than most others I have heard...for the educational process currently applied in America is not getting the job done. Oh, it also means some educational bureaucrats could be looking for another source of income, beyond the taxpayers' dole...an idea whose time has come, with an assurance of being loudly protested by the teachers' unions.
Ron Paul...a Man to Watch
Ron Paul just won the presidential straw poll at the annual CPAC, the conservatives' convention (2-12-11). He's a libertarian, but could easily take the Republican ticket with Tea-Baggers' support. He says all the right things that they want to hear and even some things I like hearing...such as cut the budget starting with overseas subsidies to independent nations. Let the sultans and the sheiks ante up to rebuild the mid-east, instead of foolishly spending the capital on their hedonistic desires.
I am fully in support of Barack Obama for a second term, facing the newly rising democracies in the nations of color around the world. The white man has to accept the fact that his old western regime rule of collaboration and corruption in these countries can, and will only bring back bitter memories from a relationship to be buried and forgotten.
Just for the sake of conversation...if Obama didn't run, then Paul would get my support hands down.
Haley Barbour...President of the US?
Well, let's see...first up on the agenda...make "Confederate History Month" a nationally recognized month of tribute, for those who tried to destroy the country of which he's the President.
Secondly, propose to Congress that they make a national holiday for Nathan Bedford Forrest, one of the founders of the original KKK, who, after the Civil War was over, continued to slaughter freed slaves, as designated by the Emancipation Proclamation. The President who instituted this proclamation would later on be murdered, by one of these southern radicals that the "South's Confederacy" wants to continue to hold in esteem. Not to mention the possibility of steamrolling through "states' rights" to reintroduce black and minority subjugation.
Does this intro sound somewhat extreme? Not if you think Haley Barbour would make a viable President of the United States, when in fact he's attempting to enact some of these ideological notions as Governor of Mississippi.
To even remotely consider Haley Barbour the standard bearer of the Republican Party, means that Party is slumming in the lowest depths of the politically ideological barrel, far lower than Ronald Reagan with his political message when he initiated his presidential campaign in Mississippi.
Oh, Tim...Brother Where Art Thou?
For you and only you can take on the "Macaca Kid". Only you have the skills and depth to defend our lovely lady Virginia from these self-righteous, rubber-necking Republicans. Barry and the Dems can take care of themselves...we need you to take care of our first lady. You can outmaneuver the slings and arrows that a less experienced contender could handle. Destiny calls you to absolve us of this Reaganlike "curse of despotism" that's only smoke and mirrors of good fiscal policy from the state level.
Watching "Watson" on Jeopardy...tonight
The much raved, wired artificial intelligence is scheduled to go up against Jeopardy's top cash winners...I think Watson wins. Naturally, digitized electrons act much faster than our human, analog brain waves...but wouldn't have it any other way...for we would be robots or androids...souless entities.
Nevertheless, I am pleased to see the progress we are making in the fields of science and technology, for it means improvements in the entire array of associated academic fields. I remember, while in the eight grade, I couldn't wait to get myself a jet pack. Come to find out they are really impractical items to have...considering the deaths they could cause from running into each other, running out of fuel and crash landing to burning out backsides due to improper mounting.
Before going to work for IBM which became a world of "acronyms"... which are abbreviations for some catchy new gimmick or gadget; the one I remember most vividly was "HAL"...the acronym for the all-controlling, psychopathic computer in the movie "2001, A Space Odyssey"... for when advancing the letters in the acronym by one letter you get...?
Celebratin' Black Mardi Gras in Mobile
A tradition since before I was born going back to 1938... http://www.mamga.com.
Being that it was a part of my existence since birth, I don't bother to return for the festivities. However, I did manage to publish one of the few books that explains the importance of the historic tradition, entitled..."Avenue...the Davis Avenue Story." Copies are available for purchase and can be ordered from Bienville Books 109 Dauphin Street Mobile, AL 36602 Phone 251-438-2904 or e-mail bienvillebooks@aol.com.
Money Talks...Bullsh*t Walks
In memory of "Petey Greene" from the land of America's foremost "bullsh*t artists"...DC:
Dealing with entitlements...Cut the federally subsidizing of both medicare and medicaid by 25% each year for the next four years until "socialized medicine" is done away with in terms of what so-called conservatives will understand.
Suspend Social Security eligibility until the age of seventy for all of those fifty years and under. No more cost of living increases for current recipients for the next four years.
Take the "Affordable Health Care" program off the table completely, allowing the people to suffer the consequences of their voluntary bad habits by signing a "right to die declaration" early-release program carried out by all hospitals. Circumstances caused by accidental incidents receive maximum medical care.
Allow employers to be released from providing healthcare insurance, employees will have to go "cafeteria style" from their own paychecks.
The devil is in the details...but we will have succeeded in cutting him off at the knees...rest in peace, Petey.
The Right-Wing Talk Show Hosts Threaten...
Mark Levin last night again threatened his Republican Party office holders that if they don't cut spending "draconically," they are going to vote them out in the next election, and move to vote for the most "conservative" or extreme "right wing" politician that may come down the pike. I have challenged these talk jocks to stop hypocritically "half-stepping" and bring on or promote that candidate to run for the Presidency...and of course that would be none other than David Duke. Take a look at his campaign platform at http://www.davidduke.com and see what he means when he espouses "taking the country back."
IBM's Watson vs God's Human Brain...
Admittedly, this subject heading is an oversimplification, but used to make a point about man vs God. This "power" in the universe that we call God is simply so far beyond human understanding, that we are left grasping at straws, by building our own versions or false gods to satisfy that certain "innateness."
This being said, let's take a look at IBM's Watson computer versus the human brain, and frankly the only viable asset is speed, certainly not worthy of technological worship... which could be considered "idol" worship...and, you know the consequences for that? So mankind should never get too cocky. Remember, it was only little more than a generation ago that we progressed from the vacuum tube to the silicon chip. What the future holds will be fascinating.
I blogged this information sometime back, but it's well worth doing again, so here goes:
"British neurophysicist, W. Grey Walter has said that at least ten billion electric cells would be needed to build a facsimile of man's brain. These cells would occupy about a million and half cubic feet, and several additional millions of cubic feet would be needed for the 'nerves' or wiring. Power required to operate it would be one million watts."
I conclude by saying could you then cram all of this into a space, about the size of a softball? Computer vs God...no match.
